God is Love

John 3:16, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

When a child thinks about his parents, he should be confident in the fact that he is loved. Children should have the confidence that no matter what happens or who may not like them, they can always run home to their loving parents. This is not always the case in today’s world. But though everyone may not have loving parents, everyone can experience the love of a Heavenly Father who cares for them deeply.

John 3:16 is home for Christians. Everything the Lord does is grounded in His love for us.

Here are three ways that the Lord has shown His great love for us:

1. The great love of God has been shown to us by the testimony of the word of God.

The Lord has Himself declared that He loves the world. Satan would love to make people believe that they are hopeless or too far away from God, and that they can never be loved by God. He would like them to think that their disgusting sins have disqualified them from ever being loved by God.

But the mighty testimony of our Savior sings loudly and clearly, “for God so loved the world.” We have to hold on to the testimony of God, given by God Himself, in His word.

The enemy is always in the business of telling lies. He will make us think that because we don’t “feel” loved by God that we aren’t loved by God. We have to let go of the false information given by the devil, and hold on to the truthful testimony of God. If God said it, we can believe it because God cannot lie.

2. The great love of the Lord has been shown to us by the gift that the Lord gave to us, “he gave his one and only Son.”

The love of God is seen in the gift of Jesus Christ. Who is this precious gift? He is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29). We can be forgiven of our vilest, dirtiest sin because of the blood of Jesus. God gave this gift to the world.

The Bible says in John 14:6, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” There’s no need for confusion because Christ is our direction, He is the way. There’s no need for us to doubt because He is the truth. There’s no need for us to die in sin because He is the life.

Our guilt can be removed because of the gift of Jesus Christ. Our fellowship can be restored because of the gift of Jesus Christ. We can be called children of God because of the gift of Jesus Christ.

3. The great love of the Lord is shown by God giving eternal life to those who believe, “whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

God is a giver and always goes the extra mile. God didn’t just send Jesus to give us life here on earth, but for all of eternity. John 14:3 says, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior,we don’t need to fear death or fret about the grave. Anyone who is in Christ will never perish. This gives the Christian great confidence.

God has done an amazing work and has gone to great lengths to show us just how great is the measure of our Father’s love. Our prayer is that everyone will receive the gift of Christ and walk in the mighty transformation that this gift brings.
